Dr Romany Erwin

 

Dr Romany Erwin is a compassionate obstetrician and gynaecologist with a deep commitment to supporting women at every stage of their reproductive journey.

She completed her specialist training in Victoria at the Royal Women’s Hospital, before volunteering for six months in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department at the National Referral Hospital in Honiara, Solomon Islands. This experience strengthened her dedication to improving access to high-quality women’s healthcare, particularly in regional and underserved communities.

In 2019, Romany moved to Darwin, initially for a short time however she quickly found both a professional calling and a personal home. Now settled with her own family, along side her work at Repromed she is also a Consultant at Royal Darwin Hospital, caring for women across the full breadth of gynaecology and obstetrics.

Romany is passionate about nurturing the future of women’s health. She established Darwin’s first local O&G specialist training program and served as Director of Training, helping to build a strong foundation for the next generation of doctors. Her advocacy for rural and regional women has extended nationally through her work as Chair of the RANZCOG Regional Fellows Committee and as a Council Member of RANZCOG from 2020 to 2025.

At the heart of her practice is a belief in patient-centred care, shared decision-making and continuity. She understands that the path to parenthood can be deeply personal and, at times, challenging. Witnessing the resilience of women navigating fertility difficulties has inspired her to expand her practice into fertility medicine allowing her to walk alongside patients as they pursue their hopes of building a family.

Privileged to support patients through what is often one of the most meaningful chapters of their lives, Romany values open communication, thoughtful guidance, and ensuring each patient feels heard, informed, and empowered.

Outside of medicine, she enjoys spending time with her family, camping in the Top End, and connecting with friends through her much-loved book club.

Dr Romany Erwin works under the clinical supervision of our Medical Director, Dr Juliette Koch.
