What is MatcherTM?
MatcherTM is a globally recognised and respected barcode and photographic evidence-based IVF electronic witnessing, labelling, scheduling, traceability, and data insights system. It has been specifically created for fertility centres and donor banks for the identification of patients and their gametes and embryos and is used across the globe in some of the worlds most recognised and respected IVF units.
MatcherTM delivers robust electronic traceability and recording throughout the IVF process, from egg collection through to embryo biopsy, cryopreservation, and transfer – so that, whenever the system is in use, each gamete and embryo is matched to the correct patient.
MatcherTM provides electronic traceability and recording throughout most of the scientific process. This includes embryo culture, embryo biopsy, cryopreservation, and transfer. MatcherTM scans and cross-checks these barcodes at each critical step, preventing mismatch and providing traceability through your fertility journey.
At every witnessing event, when used, MatcherTM captures and stores a time-stamped photo of the labelled labware. These images create a secure, auditable photographic history of every witnessing step and dish/tube used, giving visual evidence of patient ID and item details.
MatcherTM provides an evidence trail of ‘who, what, where and when’ at every witnessing step.
While electronic witnessing systems like MatcherTM enhance safety and traceability, they are not able to able to cover every treatment type or stage - such as samples created before the MatcherTM system was in place or imported samples where chain-of-custody documentation from other providers is relied on. Also, certain steps of the IVF process require a patient to confirm their identity, for example at the time of egg collection, when producing a sperm sample or when you attend for an embryo transfer. Therefore, human double witnessing is still an essential part of an IVF clinics processes and procedures.
Our entire clinical team undergo extensive, specialised training to ensure the highest standards of precision, safety, and care.
